Should Democrats write-off Georgia?

It has only been a few day since early, in-person voting started in Georgia, but early indications are that it’s not going the Democrats’ way. Counties that they need to turn out, like Gwinnett and Clayton, are significantly behind the statewide turnout rate. Conversely, Republicans counties of all sizes are performing quite well. The trend for Democrats looks bad

So, should they pull out of Georgia?

Well, no. Or at least not yet.

The most obvious reason not to pull out of Georgia is that is HAS only been a few days of early voting. Early trends might be problematic, but it isn’t the end of everything. This is a trend that we also saw in in-person early voting in Virginia, but the Democrats appear to have a lock on winning that state. So early returns might give us a glimpse at where the state is not, but not a prediction of the winner. That’s important to remember, even with these bad numbers.

The other reason that Democrats should stay in Georgia is the distribution of early voting.
